"Bearmaking Can Be Highly Addictive!"
I never in my life thought I could learn ro make teddy bears and I certainly couldn't afford the "popular" artist bears. This book teaches you how to make bears, step-by-step.The patterns are true to size, so no enlarging is necessary. Lots of good tips about which type of fabric to choose and even how to make clothes for your bears. A "must have" for anyone thinking bearmaking is only for the "pros."

exiciting times!!
My daughter Niamh (age 3) and I love sitting down to Eddie and His Teddy's adventures. All of the series have a fantastic rhyme which makes it as interesting for me as it is for Niamh. The story is as exiciting or as "settling" as the intonation of the reader so is suitable for bed time reading or sofa capers!!

Childhood Favorite
I have a tape of my mother (and I) reading this book when I was 18 mos old. She would start a sentence and I would finish it. Now that I am 40 and pregnant, I really want to find a copy of this book for my baby. I hope Amazon can come through! ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beautiful series of books - Edward the Unready!
Brilliant series of books about a young bear called Edward. The artwork and story are simply breathtaking. One would just love to give the poor young fellow a big hug the troubles he gets in.

Edward's Overwhelming Overnight (Edward-The-Unready)
Published in Hardcover by Dial Books for Young Readers (October, 1995)

A wonderful book with an unusual and important message
I loved this book and so did my son. It is SO hard to find children's books that say that it's okay to be behaviorally a little different. So many books say it's okay to be different in other ways, but there is not much out there for the child that might be not ready to try new things as eagerly as their peers. Most books seem to tell them to "go ahead, try it, in the end it will be great" but this book admits that Edward was just plain not ready for an overnight, and that being at home was much happier for him. I think Rosemary Wells is one of the few authors out there for young children that truly understands them.

The Egyptian Polar Bear

The Egyptian Polar Bear
It is a wonderful story. Especially since the public school is reading Egyptian stories. I read this book to the fourth graders and it was shared with other grades. This was a very popular book and the libraries have it also. Such a friendship for a lonely prince and now he has a special friend. The polar bear was very friendly and special. I would recommend this book for schools. I have ordered this book for a gift for my daughter's teacher.

A great way to introduce Spanish to our American-born child!
I remember reading this book when I was in elementary school! I am American-born, of Mexican descent, where I grew up learning both English and Spanish. Now that I have a child, it's harder to maintain proper Spanish around the household. "The Berenstein's Bears New Baby" Spanish version allowed for a wonderful transition of great, classic American children stories to be told in Spanish, therefore, incorporating the best of both worlds! This is a book to keep on bookshelves that is great to read over and over again. It even helped me practice my Spanish as well!

El Oso Que No Lo Era/the Bear That Wasn't
Published in Paperback by Santillana Pub Co (November, 2002)
Author: Frank Tashlin
Average review score:

El oso que no lo era, could have been written today.
As a bilingual elementary school educator, I read much children's literature in both English and Spanish for personal pleasure. Frank Tashlin's portayal of a wild bear habitat being "gobbled up" by sprawl and big business, as well as the bear's efforts and the problems he faced proving his credibility and identity that he IS A BEAR hits close to home in the 2000s. Although Tashlin wrote this book in the mid-1900s, it is applicable to life in the United States today. The book gives an ecology lesson to children today, it allows children to see the difficulties others face - in this case the bear's problems, but most of all - it's just a darling read for children and adults in both Spanish and Engish, ( I read the book in Spanish first.)

Embodying Healing: Integrating Bodywork & Psychotherapy in Recovery from Childhood Sexual Abuse
Published in Paperback by Safer Society Pr (September, 1992)
Authors: Robert Timms, Euan Bear, and Patrick Connors
Average review score:

Embodying Healing : Integrating Bodywork & Psychotherapy in
This book is the most straightforward and inclusive book I have ever read on the subject. The authors have professional and personal experience with dealing with the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. They don't shy away from any of the hard truths that one will have to confront during recovery, but they make one aware that as a survivor, they have already lived through the hardest part. The authors emphasize the fact that abuse happens to one's body, and that the body cannot be left out of the healing process. This book covers various methods of integrating the body and the mind in one's recovery, and contains many useful resources for the survivor, body worker, and therapist. This book is especially good in its ability to recognize male abuse survivors, but this book is not in any way exclusively for men.
